I’m not going to rant in detail about my various feelings on the changes. Rather, I will focus on my individual characters, and how the changes have affected their builds.
Ninna is my level 72 Feca. I am very worried about Feca right now. I have some ridiculous number of spell points available from every single shield that was automatically unleveled for me due to the shield nerf. I have no idea what I’m going to do with Ninna at this point. Probably nothing, until people rediscover what Feca are good for, how to build them, etc. Personally, I’m hoping their shields get later changed again for the better, but we’ll see.
Elwood, by Enutrof, is largely unaffected. The change to Fortune is a little inconvenient, and I am not really concerned with the minor adjustment to Coins Throwing (although I don’t know what I’ll do with the extra AP, once he gets it).
Sidreal, my Eniripsa, is mostly OK. The Leek Pie change is obnoxious, but I’m pretty sure I can find 2 more spell points to throw in to it (I had already spent one). I am a bit worried about the weapon nerf, as his Will-o’-the-wisp’s Wand was his main damage dealing. I have not tested out the new weapon change myself with him, so I’m not sure how much it will really hurt. Really, I’m guessing not much, since the damage on the wand is pretty low to begin with, having mostly been boosted by +damages. Oh, the change to Regenerating Word is actually kind of nice. Yes, reduced healing effectiveness sucks, but since there’s no real change between level 4 and 5 (+1 range - woo), I can just leave the spell at level 4 :P I’ve now put those 4 spell points into Revitalizing Word, bringing it from 4 to 5, which is a nice improvement.
Tifta, my Xelor, doesn’t care about the change to Slow Down at all. Having never had it to level 5 before, the small reduction in power to the level 5 version is not noticed. (Is this how I would have felt about the Feca changes had I never played them before? Who knows.)
Jerhad, my Iop, is of course very happy. The Iop improvements are pretty cool. I wonder why Ankama decided to make Iops even better, but… whatever. I haven’t played him much at all… perhaps it’s about time I started :)
My other characters, on my other account, are all pretty low-level, and therefore largely unaffected by the changes. A couple, however, do stand out:
Cristi, my level 31 Cra, doesn’t care about the change to Distant Shooting at all. The +range is mostly only useful in the beginning of combat, when enemies are far away from each other. Once it wears off, who cares: the enemy will have advanced well within the non-boosted range within 4 turns.
I did, however, take advantage of the returned points to swap Frozen Arrow and Distant Shooting’s level - that is, Distant Shooting is now 4, while Frozen Arrow is now 5. I have the +1AP necessary to cast Distant Shooting and Magic Arrow in the same turn already - I don’t need Distant Shooting’s AP cost reduced from 3 to 2 at the moment, and the additional Magic Arrow damage will be nice.
Yll, my Pandawa, was built looking forward to these changes: Karcham can now pick up enemies, which is amazing, and my build has spell points set aside for the Wrath of Zwhateverthehell. Boozer got better at lower levels (though I already had it to level 5), and I like the changes to the vulnerabilities, since I can now cast them and get drunk in the same turn :P
And that’s about it. I have a low-level Sram, Sadida and Osamodas who are all pretty much completely unaffected (the Osa hasn’t even leveled Summoning of Tofu). But Ninna, oh, Ninna. What will I do with you? I hope you’ll be alright.
I’ll update the dofus character playground later… right now I’m making soup :P
