Whee - it’s Sadrie

My first real Sadida.  I’m pretty much going for a straight Strength build - nothing special.

She’s level 23 at the time of this writing (and nearly 24…)

  • Vitality 0 (+57 life)
  • Strength 80 (+50)
  • Intelligence 0 (+41)
  • Chance 0 (+10)
  • Agility 0 (+10)

I’ve got the Gobball amulet, ring, belt, shoes, and hammer on, and the Boon hat, cloak, and ring.  Until recently I’d been using a Sacred Staff (7-11 neutral, +5 life, 3AP), but I think with the +4 damage from the set, the hammer will be better (+1 summons will be handy from time to time, too).  I do not like, however, that I can no longer attack and summon my sacrificial doll at the same time.  Whether or not the Gobball Hammer is really worth it requires further investigation.

Ah, spells:

  • Bramble 5
  • The Sacrificial Doll 5

I really, really also like Soothing Bramble, but not enough to level it up.  I’ve only once gone “aw, if only it had +1 range”, and once isn’t worth a spell point :P  It really surprises me how amazing this spell is, though.

I have 13 more levels to go until Manifold Bramble, and 2 spell points.  I don’t know what I’ll do with the 5 spell points I get in between.  If I thought I’d be able to afford Staff Skill, I’d save for that, but I’d also like to finish up my Gobball Set for the +1AP (Bramble + Sacrificial Doll = w00t), and that will cost more than a handful of kamas itself.

The Inflatable doesn’t come until level 54…

  • Level 11: Bramble 5
  • Level 21: The Sacrificial Doll 5
  • Level 36: Manifold Bramble 5 (5 spell points left over)
  • Level 54: The Inflatable 5 (13 spell points left over)
  • Level 60: Aggressive Brambles 5 (9 spell points left over)

Am I missing anything else? >_>  Well, there’s Insolent Bramble at 90, I suppose…

OMG, changes!

I’m not going to rant in detail about my various feelings on the changes. Rather, I will focus on my individual characters, and how the changes have affected their builds.

Ninna is my level 72 Feca. I am very worried about Feca right now. I have some ridiculous number of spell points available from every single shield that was automatically unleveled for me due to the shield nerf. I have no idea what I’m going to do with Ninna at this point. Probably nothing, until people rediscover what Feca are good for, how to build them, etc. Personally, I’m hoping their shields get later changed again for the better, but we’ll see.

Elwood, by Enutrof, is largely unaffected. The change to Fortune is a little inconvenient, and I am not really concerned with the minor adjustment to Coins Throwing (although I don’t know what I’ll do with the extra AP, once he gets it).

Sidreal, my Eniripsa, is mostly OK. The Leek Pie change is obnoxious, but I’m pretty sure I can find 2 more spell points to throw in to it (I had already spent one). I am a bit worried about the weapon nerf, as his Will-o’-the-wisp’s Wand was his main damage dealing. I have not tested out the new weapon change myself with him, so I’m not sure how much it will really hurt. Really, I’m guessing not much, since the damage on the wand is pretty low to begin with, having mostly been boosted by +damages. Oh, the change to Regenerating Word is actually kind of nice. Yes, reduced healing effectiveness sucks, but since there’s no real change between level 4 and 5 (+1 range - woo), I can just leave the spell at level 4 :P I’ve now put those 4 spell points into Revitalizing Word, bringing it from 4 to 5, which is a nice improvement.

Tifta, my Xelor, doesn’t care about the change to Slow Down at all. Having never had it to level 5 before, the small reduction in power to the level 5 version is not noticed. (Is this how I would have felt about the Feca changes had I never played them before? Who knows.)

Jerhad, my Iop, is of course very happy. The Iop improvements are pretty cool. I wonder why Ankama decided to make Iops even better, but… whatever. I haven’t played him much at all… perhaps it’s about time I started :)

My other characters, on my other account, are all pretty low-level, and therefore largely unaffected by the changes. A couple, however, do stand out:

Cristi, my level 31 Cra, doesn’t care about the change to Distant Shooting at all. The +range is mostly only useful in the beginning of combat, when enemies are far away from each other. Once it wears off, who cares: the enemy will have advanced well within the non-boosted range within 4 turns.

I did, however, take advantage of the returned points to swap Frozen Arrow and Distant Shooting’s level - that is, Distant Shooting is now 4, while Frozen Arrow is now 5. I have the +1AP necessary to cast Distant Shooting and Magic Arrow in the same turn already - I don’t need Distant Shooting’s AP cost reduced from 3 to 2 at the moment, and the additional Magic Arrow damage will be nice.

Yll, my Pandawa, was built looking forward to these changes: Karcham can now pick up enemies, which is amazing, and my build has spell points set aside for the Wrath of Zwhateverthehell. Boozer got better at lower levels (though I already had it to level 5), and I like the changes to the vulnerabilities, since I can now cast them and get drunk in the same turn :P

And that’s about it. I have a low-level Sram, Sadida and Osamodas who are all pretty much completely unaffected (the Osa hasn’t even leveled Summoning of Tofu). But Ninna, oh, Ninna. What will I do with you? I hope you’ll be alright.

I’ll update the dofus character playground later… right now I’m making soup :P

added Critical Hits Calculator

You provide the base critical hit rate, critical hit bonus, and agility, and it tells you the total critical hit rate.  There are other such calculators out there, of course, but I like to have all my tools in one place :)

Tetris is no more!

I deleted her, because the forced, premature migration to Strength (since Bluff was fucked) was too big a pain in the ass.  It’s a lot of work lost, and I’m still bitter about it, but I have two new characters to console the loss:

  • Christi, an Intelligence/Agility Cra already level 30 and without a point of Agility so far :P
  • Rikia, a good ol’ fashioned Strength Sram.  She’s only level 7, still an Incarnam baby, and I’m not sure how much I’ll really play her.

I apparently also have some level 13 Sadida by the name of Sadrie.  I forgot about her, probably because I never play her >_>

I’ll post more about these various characters later.  I have a lot to do on PsyPets, and Dofus alone is taking up time from that it should not be without keeping this blog up to date :P

Enutrof, oh Enutrof…

I didn’t realize that the cost to raise Chance would increase again at 150 >_> That’s harsh! 3 points per point of Chance.

Here is where Elwood stands now, at level 37…

  • Chance 150

Oh, was that it? :P I still have 5 characteristic points to spend, but I’m trying to decide where to put them :)

I got to 150 chance at level 36 by scrolling Chance to 25 before doing anything else with his points. I didn’t level Vitality any, either… these things combined made leveling Elwood a special kind of huge pain in the ass :) Of course Gobball Hammer helped for a while, but things really didn’t start picking up until I got Ergot Mina (a level before I got Coin Throwing e_e). Oh man, some guy was selling Ergot Mina for silly-cheap, though. I picked it up for less than 10kk, as I recall.

Oh, spells:

  • Coins Throwing 5
  • Living Shovel 5
  • Ghostly Shovel 4
  • Fortune 4
  • Pandora’s Box 2
  • Shovel Skill 1 (so far useless >_>)

And 3 spell points to spare. Next level I’m definitely getting Fortune up to 5 - I won’t mind the extra 10% damage :)

Since I hit this second Chance soft cap, I’ve been re-examining the spells and equipment of the future… (only to find that, yeah, I should just keep leveling Chance, no matter how expensive it is :P)

Spells I want maxed:

  • Shovel Skill
  • Pandora’s Box
  • Ghostly Shovel
  • Shovel of Judgement (oh no, how will I ever get +4 critical hits?! </sarcasm>)
  • Slaughtering Shovel
  • Living Chest

That’s 53 spell points right there >_> (since I already have Pandora’s Box to level 2 and Ghostly Shovel to 4). If I really want to do this, it means that my spell points are effectively locked from levels 51 to 100. Of course I should get started on Shovel Skill before then :)

Let’s see… next level when I Fortune to level 5, I’ll have spent 47 spell points. 99 - 53 - 47 = -1? -1 spare spell points? >_> Well! And here I was hoping to maybe boost Clumsiness a little >_>

As much as I read good things about Ghostly Shovel, I can’t say I’ve found it very useful, though that may be because I’m not doing a lot of PvP (Feca, at least, should tremble at the mere mention of Ghostly Shovel). Since I don’t care about PvP, I guess I’ll actually hold back on leveling that one any further unless I start encountering enemies that boost themselves in terrifying ways.  So that’s 3 spare spell points now :)  Oooh :)  Heh.  Though when I think about it, couldn’t just get 6 spell points back by avoiding such enemies and unleveling Ghostly Shovel? Hm… well, before I make any serious decisions about that spell, I may want to post on the forums and see what people say.

And… I’m done >_> I should be figuring out the details for tomorrow’s Mage game, or maybe making that Rock Crusher for PsyPets

Amazing Royal Gobball battle!!

Ninna and a lower-level Iop went romping through the Gobball Dungeon.  For the two rooms before the last we joined up with some level 100+ Sadida, but when we got to the last room he abandoned us.

Since neither of us cared about the Bow Meow (and who doesn’t still have a bunch of those energy Candies? :P) we decided we’d just go for it.

We won!  Somehow!  My Iop companion died rather early - we were surrounded by gobball, making it impossible for me to summon my Cawwot.  Despite the stupid healing that the Royal Gobball kept doing, I was able to kill off the various Gobball and Gobball Chieftains by teleporting, summoning distractions, and getting lucky with Spell Rebound :)

It makes me realize how badly Ninna would love to get her Kryst O’boul staff  fire-forged >_>  But that’s an expensive process.

I’m sure it was boring for the Iop to watch the fight the whole time, but the experience point gain was quite worth it :)  Indeed, a few blop fights later, and Ninna hit level 68.

God… 70 is so close, I can taste it!  I finally unleveled Leek Pie from 2 to 1 to get the last spell point I’ll need… so when I hit 70, BAM!  Burning Glyph will be maxed out :)

And if Burning Glyph isn’t everything I hope it to be, I’ll just give up on Ninna and focus on someone else :P  Jerhad’s been falling a little behind… hm…

the only good use for Magical Cure

Baker Yeast

Went up 2 levels in Alchemy thanks to that stuff :P (29 to 31)

(Well, okay, some staffs and stuff can be made with it, but I’ve never heard of anyone needing to go out of their way to get Magical Cure.)

67, going on 68

Nina hit level 67 a little while ago, making available the Desire Ball Cloak, giving a nice wisdom boost, among other things. I’ve also got her decked out with a Koalak Amulet and others for more wisdom. I don’t remember the exact numbers, but when you include the wisdom Candy she still apparently had, I’m reaping 60-70k exp from Blop mobs. The wisdom Candy is about out, though, and I’m only half-way through 67.

When I picked her up to start leveling again (a couple weeks ago, I believe?), she was only 62, though, so this is pretty sweet progress. I’ve been slowing down now, however, so I don’t know if I’ll hit level 70 within a week, or drop her again for another three months :P

(Unrelated note: playing any other character than Ninna is always initially confusing: I’m very used to having 4MP, apparently, instinctively clicking on squares 4 spaces away no matter which character I’m playing.)

In which Elwood purchases a modified Cape of Good Hope

+40 chance and +2 damage!  A great improvement over the Farmer Bag (+8 chance, +194 pods) he was previously wearing.

Elwood is level 35, wearing the following (only stats we care about are listed :P):

  • Houde (+50 chance, +2 critical hits)
  • Cape of Good Hope (+40 chance, +2 damage)
  • Enutrof’s Memento (+16 chance, +15 wisdom)
  • Ergot Mina (+7 chance)
  • Farmer Boots (+5 wisdom)
  • Robber Amulet (+2 damage)
  • Robber Belt (+2 damage, +1 critical hits)
  • Gangster Ring (+1 critical hits)

The Bandit Set’s set effect is also giving +5 damage (among its other things).

With those various equipment boosts, my total chance is at 260, and +damages are at 11 :)  Fortune is only level 4 right now (but I’ve got Living Shovel up to 5 :)), and I’ve only 1 spell point floating, so I’ll be level 38 before I get Fortune up to 5.

It occurs to me that my Robber Set pieces are a little weak, but Sidreal’s got the good ones right now, and isn’t about to give them up :)

Still, this puts Coins Throwing at 14 to 32 damage (up to 15 to 35 with Fortune - more with the Living Shovel).

That modified Cape of Good Hope was worth every one of the 30,000 kamas I paid for it :P

Level 38 == full Prespic Set at last!

It’s the first I’ve ever owned, and it’s Sidreal’s :)  I know it’s not original, but he’s got that Prespic/Robber combination going on.  The damage bonus and damage reflection are perfect, and the Wisdom bonuses aren’t bad either.

Let’s check out Sidreal’s stats now!

  • Vitality 4 (+32)
  • Wisdom 2 (+74)
  • Strength 0 (-5 with Powerful Wand of Intelligence)
  • Intelligence 140 (+30 with Powerful Wand of Intelligence)
  • Chance 1 (+5 with Will-o’-the-wisp’s Wand)
  • Agility 0 (-10 with Will-o’-the-wisp’s Wand)

Total damage bonus is 19!  Damage reflection is 13.  Yum.

The Powerful Wand of Intelligence is new to my retinue.  While it is Neutral damage, it’s comparable to the Will-o’-the-wisp’s Wand’s Fire.  Also, when fighting blops, it’s nice to have an attack that is not fire-based :)

I’ve also added Eniripsa to my Dofus Character Playground.  And thanks to that, I know that Leek Pie is doing 21-24 damage with the Powerful Wand of Intelligence (21-23 without).  I leveled Leek Pie to level 2 for the extra range, although whether or not that was worth the spell point is unclear, since I’ve mainly been fighting blops, and they like to go just out of range, whatever your range is.

Spell points are being saved for Revitalizing Word 5.  Next would be Regenerating Word 5, or maybe some variety of Weapon Skill, although I don’t remember Wand Skill being inexpensive >_>  I’ve got one spell point floating now, so it’ll be 7 more levels before I get those to 5.  That’d bring me to 45.  Wow.  Then it’d be to 55 if I include a Weapon Skill to 5.  Then we get into Word of Sacrifice, which I’m still debating bothering with.  The math says it’s better than Healing Word until level 106 when Healing Word can become level 6, but the difference is so slight, I don’t think I can justify going out of my way to temporarily have 5 levels of Word of Sacrifice.  Ah, decisions, decisions.  About a game.  A god-damn MMORPG.  Simultaneously rewarding and a complete waste of time :)

Anyway…  I have Gobboots equipped, but since I’m not wearing anything else in the Gobball Set I’d like to replace them.  I was thinking maybe some Boots of Concentration of whatever caliber I can wear - another good intelligence boost and +2 critical hits seems like it should be nice.  Maybe there are other boots, though, I haven’t done a whole lot of digging.

And I’m out.
